Eden Heights - Premium homes at Whitefield

It’s been 3 days after my last site visit to a newly launched residential project. This time, it was Habitat’s Eden Heights. As a blogger, especially with real estate, it becomes second nature to keep my ears open and listen to any and all the feedback I receive about a said property. This helps with the writing process, especially since I can address any concern. Over the last weekend, I went to the Eden Heights project and I was pleasantly surprised with its proximity to Hoodi Circle, to luxury malls, IT parks, restaurants and many places for business and fun.  Hoodi is bustling with activity and what more, there’s an upcoming metro station the vicinity.

#UrbanForest - Comforts of modern life with the joy of nature

The reason most of us travel is to get away from this concrete forest that we stay in. And if you have not been doing that then take the nearest exit from Bangalore through any of the toll booths and you will observe the change in landscape. I remember my good old days in Udupi where my house was surrounded by trees and taking an afternoon nap in the balcony was something to be done on holidays. In Bangalore, holidays do not have anything new to offer.

#LoveScotch - Party with the stars

May 21st, 2016
Sangri-La Hotel, Bangalore

Every morning Bangalore Times features a few celebrities that were found partying in Bangalore and I always wondered what happens in such parties. This weekend I got to be a part of one such party that took place on World Whisky Day.

Introducing everyone to the world of sounds

Cochlear™ India called for bloggers in Bangalore for a meet and greet event with Brett Lee. Only after I attended the event did I realize how serious the event was going to get.

It all started with a game of Dumb Charades. 4 bloggers volunteered to act while rest of us had our laughs as we guessed what they were trying to convey. Then came the question of what if we had to play that game all our life. In most cases the loss of speech is due to the primary reason that as a child, they were not able to hear anything. The first step towards any solution is accepting that there is a problem. This was the agenda behind the Cochlear™ Bloggers’ meet – understanding about hearing loss and the remedy that is available for it.

Bangalore Food Truck Fiesta

Bangalore is a cosmopolitan city and things are ever changing here. In this post let me tell about the latest trend in the one thing that Bangalore absolutely loves boasting about - Food. (If you thought weather, then no.. Its terrible these days) From the SLVs to Empires to Barbeque Nation to the whole bunch of breweries, now we have the food trucks. This probably started couple of years back and picked up slow but now I am told there are about 30 food trucks in Bangalore. In one of my previous posts I wrote about how Bangalore celebrated the Open Streets and continuing the similar efforts, BMRCL (Bangalore Metro Rail Corp Ltd) tied up with the food trucks to have a month long food truck fiesta.

Nammoora Habba

I wrote my first blog in 2009 when an article I wrote did not make it to the college magazine. The article was about Udupi-Mangalore which focussed on culture, tourism and food. And here I am writing my blog number 101 about the same thing. Till date I never miss an opportunity to highlight anything good from my hometown. Last month Bangalore hosted its 3rd Nammoora Habba in Jayanagar. It was a 2 day festival with competitions during day and cultural events in the evening with a supply of Dakshina Kannada style food throughout the day.

MG Road Open Streets

While everyone was busy drooling over the Bangalore weather or cribbing about the bad roads and garbage in our city, most people missed the amazing Open Streets that happened on MG Road last month. Yes, the ever busy MG Road was closed for traffic and opened up to people to do whatever they enjoyed the most. However the closure was only between Brigade road and Kumble circle and between 9am to 9pm.

#FlipkartOutdoors Indiblogger Meet

It is the age of ecommerce and we like to do everything from the comfort of our home. Let us take shopping for instance. The once window shopping is now replaced by in window shopping (see what I did there). Given a choice most people like to spend their weekends outdoors, and by outdoors I don’t mean getting stuck in traffic and visiting malls. So you can now browse and select stuff you want to buy during breaks in office, thus keeping weekends free for your family and friends. Each city has weekend getaways that offer a range of activities like camping, cycling, trekking or just lazing in the arms of Mother Nature. Keeping this in mind, Flipkart now has a range of products that will make your outdoor experiences better and also helps you capture those moments to share (show off) to the rest of the world. Well, that pretty much sums up about what #FlipkartOutdoors is all about.

The Indiblogger Flipkart meet

Bangalore is the IT capital of India and  we also boast about being the startup capital (no offense to Zomato). So it is quite obvious that we also form a large community on social media. Social media these day's has come down to ranting and outraging but it still is one of the most effective ways a brand can understand its consumer sentiments. There are hardly brands these days that do not try to engage with customers. A few brands take a step further and organize meets where they get to present their product and get instant feedback. I was invited to be a part of one such meet organized by Indiblogger at the Hard Rock Cafe, where Flipkart introduced their "Image Search" feature.

Enough is Enough

Last weekend I was invited to be a part of the event - "Enough is Enough", which was organized by an organization called Breakthrough. The theme of the event was sexual harassment and debunking the myth that when someone is harassed they were #AskingForIt. I have attended such events earlier but this time it was different because this was organized in Vijaya College and the audience was the college crowd aged 18-22. It is tough to talk about sexuality and sexual harassment to them mainly because at that age not everyone is matured enough to take this seriously.

Aero India 2015

This year I got an opportunity to attend the Aero India Show at the Air Force base near Yelahanka in Bengaluru. This being my first time to the event I had no clue how crazy it was going to be. It was a Saturday so I expected traffic at the Airport Road. What better way to beat the traffic than to go in a two wheeler. And my strategy worked, sort off. It took me 2hrs to cover the distance of 10kms from Nagavara to Yelahanka on my bike. Imagine the condition if I had taken the bus.

#GoSleeekASUSExperience

"Indian by birth, blogger by choice" - This was written on the tshirt that I got for the 1st Indiblogger meet that I attended couple of years back. Indiblogger is a community that provides a platform for bloggers to connect and socialize. I have attended 4 meets that happened in Bangalore but have to shamelessly admit that this is the first time I am blogging about it. Each Indiblogger meet was a unique experience and had something different to offer. With every meet I make new acquaintances which over time have become into friendship. There are more familiar faces every time I attend the blogger meet. This time the meet was sponsored by ASUS and was hosted at the ITC Gardenia.

Comic Con Bangalore

The first episode of The Big Bang Theory - Season 8 aired today. This show has introduced me to the fun side of science and Penny ( Penny > Science ). Every season has one episode dedicated to Comic Con. It was fun watching those episodes and also made me wish to be a part of that event.

#ThroughTheLens

The world has changed a lot in the past few years. We now also give importance to capturing and sharing our memories along with experiencing it first hand. Photography has come a long way to help us achieve it. I have always been lagging behind when it came to getting the latest stuff. When people started moving towards the digital cameras in the early 2000's, i got my first camera, the one with the 36photo reel. And now that all my friends are owning a DSLR, i finally have a simple low end point and shoot camera.

Microsoft BizSpark

I belong to the family that owns a couple of Vegetable Shops in Udupi district. We are one big family and i have about 2 dozen cousins. One fine evening few years back we elder kids sat in garden and spoke about having a Shenoy Mansion (Yeah, totally Hindi Soap types) and expanding/managing the family business. Years passed by and in a few years there will be a dozen engineers in the family. One day in future i would love to be a part of something owned and managed by our family. Having said that let me get back to the topic of the post :)

Social Weekend!!

Bangalore is a happening place. No, not referring to the night life but in terms of events that happen in Bangalore. I got an opportunity to attend 4 events over Friday and Saturday. Here is a small write up on each of those events.

Ring The Bell

One million men, One million promises, End violence against women
Ring the bell is a worldwide campaign that has been started to fight against the violence against women. Ring the bell campaign took place across the globe on the Women's Day. In Bangalore, Onskies was a proud partner of this initiative and they called for a meetup to discuss what can be done to improve the current situation in India. I got an opportunity to be a part of it.

Self Defense for Women

I recently saw the post that the NGO called Justice for Women was hosting a self defense workshop for Women across the country. As a friend to the organizer i decided to help out in any ways i could. I was asked to host the workshop on behalf of Justice for Women in Bangalore today along with Nabeel. The workshop was conducted by Franklin Joseph, who is a women safety empowerment specialist and Krav Maga trainer. Below are a few insights about the workshop.
